Privacy Policy — Smart Student App

Last updated: 16 August 2026

Smart Student App is the student application of Smart Learning Center, an English language school in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. It is available only to enrolled students, who receive their login details from their teacher. This policy explains what the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and how to have it deleted.

Who we are

Smart Learning Center, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. For any question about this policy or about your data, contact your teacher or the centre directly at the address and phone number given on our website.

What the app collects

DataWhy
Full name and usernameTo identify you to your teacher and classmates
PasswordTo sign you in. Stored only as a bcrypt hash — never in readable form, and never visible to staff
Date of birthTo calculate your age, so lesson content and placement suit your age group
Attendance and lesson recordsTo show your progress and inform your teacher
Homework, essays, test answers and scoresTo grade your work and track improvement
Chat messagesTo let you message your teacher and classmates
Payment recordsTo show whether your tuition for the month has been received. We record the amount, month and method only — we never see or store your card number
Coins, streaks and leaderboard positionTo run the app's rewards and rankings
Microphone audioOnly while you are doing a speaking or pronunciation exercise, and only after you grant permission. It is used to transcribe what you said and is not stored afterwards
Profile pictureOptional. Stored on your own device only and never uploaded

The app does not collect your location, contacts, photos, or any advertising identifier. There is no advertising in this app.

Who your data is shared with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising. It is processed by the following services purely so the app can work:

ServiceWhat it receives
SupabaseHosts the database holding your account and school records
VercelHosts the app and its learning material
AnthropicReceives the text of homework and answers you submit, in order to grade them and write feedback
OpenAIReceives speaking-exercise audio to transcribe it, and text to generate spoken examples

Work you submit is sent to these providers for grading and is not used by us for any other purpose. Your name is not attached to what is sent for grading.

Children

Many of our students are children. We collect a date of birth so that content matches a student's age, and we ask for no more personal information than the school already holds as part of enrolment. The app contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, no third-party tracking, and no way for anyone outside the school to contact a student — chat is limited to that student's own teacher and classmates.

If you are a parent or guardian and want to see what we hold about your child, correct it, or have it deleted, contact the centre and we will act on the request.

How long we keep it

Account and progress records are kept while a student is enrolled, and for a reasonable period afterwards so a returning student keeps their history. Microphone audio is not retained once an exercise has been transcribed.

Your rights

You may ask to see the data we hold about you, have it corrected, or have your account and its records deleted. Ask your teacher or contact the centre; deletion is carried out by staff and applies to your account record and its associated homework, attendance, chat and payment history.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored only as bcrypt hashes in a table that ordinary app access cannot read, and are verified by the server rather than by the app. Teachers can reset a student's password but cannot view it.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
